Brian Squires Obituary – Death: Director of Business Development & Acquisitions Has Passed Away, Cause Of Death
My research is centered around investigating the key attributes of supply chains that foster resilience, innovation, and sustainability. Typically, I collaborate with industry partners to evaluate and improve current practices or envision, develop, and implement future approaches. Using empirical research methods, such as experiments, case studies, and surveys, my goal is to deepen our comprehension of supply chain dynamics.
HPC Supply Chain Innovation Lab: Endowed with a £1.6 million grant, this lab collaborates with industrial partners on various subjects, including the integration of SMEs, innovative contracting methods, and the redesign of supply chains. Our exceptional team of PhD students and researchers has gone on to pursue roles in academia (Universities of Oxford and British Columbia) and industry (EY and Arcadis).
Supply Chain Risk Alerts: Supported by a research council grant and an alumni donation, this initiative resulted in the development of an online early warning system capable of detecting disruptive events an average of 43 days earlier than current methods. The tool’s intellectual property was licensed to an artificial intelligence company that also recruited one of our outstanding researchers.
Cellular Agriculture Manufacturing Hub: Backed by a £12 million EPSRC grant and led by Professor Marianne Ellis, this interdisciplinary project seeks to revolutionize food production by establishing an environmentally, financially, and socially sustainable value chain.
Sustainable Choices in Global Mobility: Supported by a UKRI Knowledge Transfer Partnership and in collaboration with K2, this interdisciplinary project aims to create, analyze, and promote sustainable choices in the global mobility sector.
The outcomes of my research have been disseminated through a diverse array of peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Operations Management, Production & Operations Management, and the Journal of Supply Chain Management. Additionally, I communicate my research findings through reports, software, methodologies, and workshops, contributing to a broader understanding of supply chain dynamics.
