Gavin Smith Obituary – Death: Ohio, Lakewood High School Junior has Passed Away

Gavin Smith, a junior at Lakewood High School in Hebron, Ohio, and a member of the marching band, tragically passed away on November 5th, 2022. Gavin was the beloved son of Lakewood High School teacher Sharon Smith. His death was announced by the Lakewood Local School District Superintendent, Mark Gleichauf, on the school’s Facebook page. According to the announcement, Gavin Smith passed away in his sleep on a Saturday morning.

Gavin Smith was cherished by his teachers, friends, and family. He was actively involved in Lakewood High’s drama program and was also a member of the Lakewood High Marching Band. The Lakewood Local School District described him as an incredible young man, an excellent student, and a wonderful friend.

The loss of Gavin deeply affected the Lakewood family, as mentioned by the Lakewood Local School District. Superintendent Mark Gleichauf stated that grief counselors would be available at school on Monday, November 7th, 2022, to provide support to students and staff during this challenging time.

The announcement made by the Lakewood Local School District on Facebook expressed their sadness and read:

“Good Afternoon Lakewood families, It is with a very heavy heart that I share some sad news this afternoon. Lakewood High School junior Gavin Smith passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Saturday morning. Gavin was an incredible young man who was a great student, a good friend, a member of our Lakewood High Marching Band, and also involved in Lakewood High drama. He is the son of LHS teacher, Sharon Smith, and so this loss is deep for all of us in the Lakewood family.

In order to help our students and staff in this difficult time, there will be grief counselors available at school tomorrow, Monday, November 7. Please keep the entire Smith family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Thank you, Mark Gleichauf, Superintendent.”
