Salman Rushdie is an Indian-born novelist who writes about magical realism and history. Rushdie was stabbed, according to the video on Twitter.

The famous novelist was promoting his new book at the N.Y. conference. He is a professor who taught at Emory University.

Before his career as a novelist, he worked as a copywriter, wvarious brands still use his quotesrands. Similarly, the author’s first novel was Grimus, written in 1975.

He wore to fame with books like Midnight Children (1981), and his controversial novel Satanic Verses was written in 1988.

According to the NY times, Salman Rushdie was punched or stabbed at his keynote convention at Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, N.Y., South of Buffalo. Video is not made public.

Rushdie was surrounded by help from older adults and the audience after he was attacked and received immediate assistance.

The British Indian novelist is famous for his known “The Satanic Verses”; he was either criticized or lauded for his novel Midnight Children, which talks about the partition between India and Pakistan.

Moreover, his novel Satanic Verses were banned in Iran. Due to his novel, the Iranian government issued a death threat to Rushdie in the 1980s, which was considered sinful.

Hence, Salman has been in constant governmental protection since the threat. The author is considered to be one of the most accomplished writers.

Why Does Fatwa Mean, And Why Is He Killed?

According to Merriam-webster, Fatwa is a decree handed by legal ruling Islamic law issued by a qualified jurist. He has always advocated that religion deserves criticism, satire, and disrespect, which did not go well with Muslim leaders.

Rushdie lived under constant threat. He received multiple death threats and often remained in his U.K. home. In 2012, a $3 million bounty was placed on Rushdie’s head.

Thus, a Fatwa, a decree of bounty on his head, was issued by Iranian leader Ayatollah Hruhollah. He was considered a threat to the Muslim religion and culture of the country.

The writer’s works include the writing of geo-political fiction of Eastern and Western civilizations. Moreover, his novel “Midnight Children” was awarded Booker Prize in 1981.

In 1983, he was appointed a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Queen knighted him for his services in Literary contribution.

Since the 2000s, Rushdie has remained in New York. The author secured a Distinguished Writer in Residence at Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institue of NYU in 2015.

Additionally, the audience was in dismay after he was attacked on the stage. It has been a common occurrence for celebrities to be assaulted on stage.

Is Salman Rushdie Suspect Arrested?

The suspect who attacked during the author’s speech has been taken into custody by local authorities.

The information has not been revealed about the attacker. The people believe it was an attacker who followed Fatwa, brainwashed by an Iranian Dictator four decades ago.

Additionally, he was promptly taken to the hospital by medical helicopter and is under constant observation while undergoing surgery.

Salman was promoting his new novel Victory City in N.Y. He was giving descriptions and inspiration about his book before the attack on stage.

The author’s followers champion his idea about his religion, stating that you can kill Salman Rushdie, but you cannot kill his idea and writings.

Furthermore, Hitoshi Igarashi, a Japanese Translator of Salman Rushdie’s book, was found dead outside his office in 1991. He died of a stab wound. The Iranian regime issued Fatwa for a translator.
