Sherry Pollex fought cancer for many years and became an advocate for pediatric cancer. She and Martin Truex Jr. had hosted fundraisers together, even after they ended their relationship earlier this year.

Sherry Pollex had been battling ovarian cancer since 2014 and had been a champion for cancer survivors. She created the Sherry Strong Integrative Medicine Oncology Clinic at Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, and her cancer went into remission for a few years before returning last year.

Ovarian cancer affects the female reproductive organs, and symptoms often don’t appear until the disease has advanced.

Sherry Pollex, at the age of 44, was praised as an “absolute hero” during the “Catwalk for a Cause” charity event, which supported various causes. She was initially diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 35 in 2014, and the cancer recurred in 2016.
