When John Souttar scored his first goal for Scotland against Denmark at Hampden Park, he dedicated it to his older brother Aaron Souttar.

He is a Scottish professional footballer who competes for the Scotland national team and Scottish Premiership club Rangers. Before signing with Rangers in 2022, he played for Dundee United and Heart of Midlothian.

Souttar was originally a central defender, but toward the conclusion of his time at Dundee United, he learned to play as a defensive midfielder. However, lately, he has been used as a center-back for Hearts.

John Souttar, who began his career as a central defender, switched to playing as a defensive midfielder toward the conclusion of his time at Dundee United. Still, he has recently been used as a center-back for Hearts.

He made his club debut in January 2013 at 16, making him the youngest player to have played for Dundee United’s first team. Previously, he had represented the country at the under-17, under-19, and under-21 levels. In September 2018, he made his full international debut.

John Souttar Goal Dedication To His Brother

After scoring his first goal for Scotland and helping Steve Clarke’s team defeat Denmark 2-0 at Hampden Park, John Souttar dedicated the goal to his older brother Aaron.

Having not done so in more than three years, defender Souttar returned to the national team by scoring the game’s first goal in the World Cup qualifying match.

The Hearts player received his fourth cap against the Danes, who advanced to the Euro 2020 semifinals last summer, after being recalled to the team last week due to Grant Hanley’s injury.

Souttar, who has spent the majority of the last two years on the sidelines after suffering two different Achilles injuries quickly apart, made a remarkable comeback.

Who Are Aaron Souttar Parents?

Jack and Heather Souttar welcomed Aaron Souttar into the world on September 25, 1996, in Aberdeen. His father had played professionally for Brechin City in the past.

Australia is the country of origin for the family of his mother. Souttar attended Luthermuir Primary School while growing up in the Aberdeenshire community of Luthermuir and subsequently Mearns Academy in neighboring Laurencekirk.

Souttar started playing for Brechin City Boys Club (later Brechin City Youths) in 2002. His father served as his coach on the team, which was successful and included Ryan Gauld and Euan Spark.

Before entering Dundee United’s development program in 2006 at the age of nine, the triplets furthered their education at coaching schools run by Ian Cathro in Dundee.
