After a group of protesters chained themselves to a JPMorgan Chase building in Los Angeles on April 6 to voice their displeasure with the bank’s financing of fossil fuels, Peter Kalmus was taken into custody and later released along with the group.

Who Is Peter Kalmus?

Peter Kalmus is a data scientist from the United States who works for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and UCLA’s joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science & Engineering.

According to his website, Kalmus’ work at NASA is primarily concerned with the latter, specifically with issues like clouds, weather emergencies, and biodiversity.

Likewise, Peter is also the author of the book “Being the Change: Live Well and Spark a Climate Revolution,” which is separate from his scientific work.

He writes articles on climate change and is also one of the creators of the app Earth Hearo: Climate Change and the website noflyclimatesci.org.

Peter Kalmus Age And Wiki: His Early Life

Peter Kalmus’s current age is 48 years old. He was born on May 9, 1974.

Regarding his education, Kalmus attended Harvard University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in physics in 1997.

Following that, he performed as a software developer in New York City and a high school physics teacher in Massachusetts.

He joined the graduate school at Columbia University in 2004 and earned his Ph.D. in physics there in 2008. As part of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, he conducted gravitational wave detection research for his Ph.D.

Further, as a postdoctoral researcher at the California Institute of Technology, Peter constrained his work with LIGO.

Peter Kalmus NASA Scientist Arrested

Peter got arrested in April of this year and was later released after being chained to the JPMorgan Chase building in Los Angeles to protest the bank’s financing of fossil fuels.

According to him, burning fossil fuels contributes significantly to the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, affecting the climate.

He believes that the state of the world is much worse than what the majority of people think it is as a result.

Moreover, Kalmus was also taken into custody for shutting himself and his followers and colleagues inside the JP Morgan Chase facility entrance.

Social media responded quickly to the news of his arrest. However, the scientist was briefly arrested before being freed.
