Joshua Plath dead and obituary, Welcome To Plathville – cause of death
“Welcome to Plathville” stars Barry and Kim have been married for over 20 years, and their relationship is most importantly built on a rock-solid foundation of unwavering faith in God. Plath’s parents trust every aspect of their daily lives, whether it’s raising their nine children, working on the farm in rural Georgia they call home, homeschooling, or even leading a family band to worship God, God in all things Guide them big and small.
Still, there are some things that even surrendering to a higher power can’t prepare you for when their youngest son Joshua, just 17 months old, has an unimaginably tragic incident on their own property. Barry and Kim feel their faith has been put to the test like never before. As noted on Women’s Day, in an episode of “Welcome to Placeville,” the family matriarch recalled saying immediately after learning what happened to her little boy, “I just saw him , I don’t think it matters.”
“Welcome to Plathville” follows the Plath parents and their nine children; Ethan, Hosanna, Micah, Moriah, Lydia, Isaac, Amber, Cassia and Mercy, along with Ethan’s controversial wife Olivia. Plath’s children follow strict rules at home, from avoiding technology to not drinking sugary drinks. However, beneath the veneer of peace and harmony hides a huge wound that may never heal.
As Kim recalls on the Plath family’s website, it was the fall of 2008, and she was busy moving trees in the family’s suburbs (via Starcasm). “I looked for our 17-month-old Joshua, saw that he had left the vehicle, and stopped to look for the nearest tree. In a panic, I realized what had happened. I hit our Joshua,” she admitted. Kim went on to say, “For the next hour, I spent the next 8 months living in my brain nonstop.”
Barry came home from get off work, but poor Joshua died before he got home. On the family’s website, Kim described what happened next as “hell on earth”, noting that she could barely function and sometimes even wanted to die. She couldn’t even hear her son’s name. Still, Barry stood by her side, never blaming or making Kim feel worse about what happened. As she describes it: “He was strong. He just loved me.”
The mother of nine credits her unwavering faith in getting through such a difficult time and explains how God finally healed her. “God was so loyal to our family and got us through such a horrific event. He truly restored our joy completely. We are forever grateful!” she wrote. According to the Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Joshua Plath’s death was officially ruled an accident by the local sheriff’s office.
