A statement released by Kensington Palace on January 17 mentioned that “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to the hospital yesterday for planned abdominal surgery.” The palace stated that the surgery was successful, and she is expected to stay in the hospital for ten to fourteen days before continuing her recovery at home. The recovery period is estimated to be up to three months, with a return to public duties unlikely until after Easter.

The statement highlighted the princess’s desire to keep her personal medical information private and maintain normalcy for her children. Updates on her progress will be provided only when there is significant new information to share.

The New York Post reported that Kate’s abdominal issues are not cancerous, and the palace clarified this after the initial press statement. BBC also confirmed that the palace denies any presence of cancer.

Regarding King Charles, it was reported by USA Today that he will undergo a medical procedure for an enlarged prostate. Buckingham Palace assured that the condition is benign, and the King will undergo a corrective procedure next week.
